2006-2007 Season Auditions
Join the SVSO!
The Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra has openings for the following volunteer positions:
- All String sections
- Principal Oboe
- Second Oboe
- Third Oboe/English Horn
- Second Bassoon
We are also auditioning for Principal Second Violin and Principal Cello.
Membership in the orchestra is open to qualified players; previous orchestral experience is preferred. All interested players must audition.
The audition consists of:
- two contrasting selections of your choice, totaling 6-7 minutes (accompanist not required. However, if you wish to play with an accompanist, you must provide one.) and
- two orchestral excerpts of your choice from the standard repertoire (orchestral works of Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, etc.).

Information about the SVSO
The SVSO is a 65+ piece community orchestra made up of talented non-professionals with selected professional support. It presents 4-5 concerts a year of exciting, demanding standard orchestral repertoire. Rehearsals are held weekly, on Thursdays, from 7:30pm-10:00pm, at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie. Remaining concerts in the 2006-2007 season are: January 28, 2007; March 25, 2007; and May 20, 2007. |
