Opening Ceremony: Celebrating Muslim American CultureS

The Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra Winds will be on hand to provide music to celebrate this year’s Coming Together Opening Ceremony featuring Muslim-American CultureS. There will be ebru art, calligraphy and henna demonstrations, an art gallery and refreshments, followed by a wonderful program featuring Quran and Nasheed recitations, spoken word poetry, hip hop emcee, and much more. The emcee for the event is NBC5 Chicago’s Ash-har Quraishi. Free and open to the public. Salat (prayer) room arrangements will be available.

1:00 PM: Program in Auditorium at Niles West High School

This year Coming Together will celebrate Muslim American CultureS and the Muslim residents in Niles Township who represent a wide variety of cultural backgrounds. In a series of events and programs from late January to the end of March, we will learn about Muslim contributions in the fields of science, literature, the arts, education, and much more.
